5.2 Third-Party Antivirus

Microsoft Defender (built into Windows) is enough for many users. Third-party antivirus is optional—choose it if you need specific features, a different policy console, or a vendor’s support contract. Install only one real-time antivirus at a time; a second product often causes conflicts and slowdowns. Always download from the vendor’s official site, never from “cracked” bundles or unknown download hubs.

Choosing and installing safely

Note: Features, bundles, and data practices change with product updates. Verify version-specific details on each vendor’s official site before you deploy software in a school or workplace.
